D.B. Cooper
Remember the first episode of the Loki TV series where Loki says that he was D.B. Cooper? Although the story was fictitious, D.B. Cooper isn't. The Loki TV series used the famous case of D.B. Cooper brilliantly, except D.B. Cooper wasn't Loki. (I'm like 90% sure)
On 24th November in the year 1971, D.B. Cooper boarded the Northwest Orient flight 305 in Portland. He was dressed in a neat suit and tie, just like Loki was in the series.
He confidently ordered bourbon with soda and gave a note to the flight attendant, which said Cooper had a bomb. He demanded $200,000 and 4 parachutes. He received everything he demanded after he let 36 passengers go. He kept some flight crews on board and ordered them to take off. He then told them to fly over Mexico.
D.B. Cooper surprised everyone onboard when he jumped out of the plane! The flight was still far away from Mexico.
D.B. Cooper was never found or seen again. The FBI believed Cooper died, but it wasn't confirmed.
Why did he jump? Where did he land? These questions haunted the investigators till the year 2016 when they finally declared the case a cold one.
The Greyhound bus massacre
An ex-church custodian and a computer programmer of Chinese origin did something that nobody who knew him could believe.
Vincent Li, a schizophrenic, proved that humans are the real monster.
On 30th July 2008, Vincent boarded a Greyhound bus that was bound for Winnipeg. He sat at the front first and then went to the back and sat with a young man called Tim McLean.
Tim was sleeping with his headphones on when Vincent attacked him with a knife. A blood-curdling scream shocked every passenger who saw Vincent constantly stabbing Tim, sending blood spraying out everywhere.
The driver immediately opened the doors and allowed passengers to escape. But Vincent continued till he decapitated Tim's head completely. He came to the window holding his head to show the passengers.
Reportedly, he ate parts of the victims before the cops showed up. Vincent couldn't offer any believable explanation for why he attacked. He said that Tim was the alien that he was destined to kill.
Vincent Li was granted freedom, and he changed his name to Will Baker.
Time traveller
A man called John Titor claimed to be a man from the future. He posted on the internet with predictions and claims. One day, John Titor suddenly disappears!
John Titor claimed to be from 2036 and shared fantastical predictions and stories under a pseudonym - Timetravel_0. Later he changed the name to John Titor.
He made predictions that never came to being! Such as World War 3 would happen in 2015. He also said that there are multiple realities, and his future may not be ours!
In 2001, John Titor disappeared just before claiming that he needed to return.
Although most of his predictions were proven false, his disappearance remains a mystery.
The soap maker of Corregio
Cianciulli is another example of the human capability of turning into a monster. Cianciulli had a miserable and troubled childhood. She never received love from her mother. Her mother despised her for the fact that Cianciulli was a child of rape. Her mother was forced into a marriage with her rapist! As a result, her anger and frustration never let her love her daughter, Cianciulli.
Cianciulli grew up to be Italy's most infamous and popular serial killer. She killed three women and turned their bodies into teacakes and soaps. She got married and became a mother to four children. The oldest son was in the Italian army.
Cianciulli said that she sacrificed three lives to protect her oldest son. She distributed the teacakes and soaps, which she made out of the victims' bodies, among neighbours.
She was arrested in 1946.
Common love
Can you imagine loving something so badly that you willingly let yourself be killed for it? It's scary and insane, but this is one such case.
A man called Armin Meiwes ate another man, Bernd Jürgen! The strange part was that Jürgen volunteered to be slaughtered by Armin!
In the year 2001, Armin Meiwes and Bernd Jürgen met on a website that was for cannibalism fetishes. After they met, Meiwes cut off Jürgen's penis. They ate it together!
A video that was filmed by them reportedly shows Jürgen telling Meiwes that he is still alive the next morning; they'll eat his balls!
There is and always will be a darker side of humanity that can prove that nothing can be more dangerous than human beings. Next time you see a movie about grisly murder, bone-chilling crimes, or a serial killer, know that they are somehow and someway inspired by real events.
