The Widow
The Widow is a thriller series that tells the story of Georgia Wells (Kate Beckinsale), who receives the news of her husband dying in an airplane crash, but after three years, she sees a man who resembles her husband on the news. She gets more reasons to believe that her husband is still alive as she digs deep.
Georgia travels to Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to find out the truth. The story gradually reveals dark truth and more problems for Georgia.
Absentia
The series is about an FBI special agent, Emily Byrne (Stana Katic), who disappeared six years ago without any trace while hunting down a serial killer. Six years later, Emily is found with no memory and barely alive.
Emily returns home only to find her world has changed. Emily's husband was married to another woman, and their son lives with them. Things become intense when she discovers that she is a prime suspect of multiple murder charges.
With no memory and records, Emily will have to reclaim her identity family, prove her innocence, and find out who's behind all these.
7500
In 7500, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the role of a pilot named Tobias Ellis, whose flight is hijacked. Unlike many air-thrillers, 7500 doesn't show a supercool hero stalking terrorists hiding from seats, taking down all bad guys one-by-one and occasionally snapping a few necks. Instead, 7500 strives for realism.
Tobias (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a soft-spoken co-pilot all set to fly passengers to Paris from Berlin. Things go smoothly, but shortly after taking off, terrorists force their way to the cockpit and seriously wound the pilot. Tobias could manage some time to contact ground control for an emergency landing, but things take a dark turn when the terrorists kill a passenger.
The hijackers threaten Tobias to kill more passengers if he doesn't listen to them. Tobias will now have to save the passengers and crew.
7500 is a must-watch for thriller fans, especially for the reason that it's not a typical Hollywood hijack movie.
The Man in the High Castle
The series is a dystopian thriller about an alternate reality where the Empire of Japan and Nazi Germany are the rulers of the world. In this reality, they won World War II and divided the United States into two parts - the Japanese Pacific States and Greater Nazi Reich.
The story is set in 1962 in a world where Swastikas are prevalent everywhere, the Rocky Mountains as no man's land and San Francisco re-imagined with Japanese signage in every corner.
The story follows some characters and how their destinies intertwine after they discover home movies and newsreels that show Japan and Germany losing World War II.
If you are looking for a dystopian thriller, then this is a perfect choice.
Utopia
If you love conspiracy theories and comic books, this is an absolute treat for you.
Utopia is a story set in Chicago, where some comic geeks are looking for a graphic novel, which they believe has predictions for the future and holds the key to ending a nationwide pandemic. The graphic novel also has hints that help the comic book nerds unearth a dangerous global conspiracy and a plan to prevent a massive ecological disaster.
As the nerds decode the graphic novel, the news announces a viral outbreak, and soon the world is filled with panic, protests erupt, conspiracies surface, and chaos. John Cusack as Kevin Christie is excellent and adds more thrill to the series with his performance.
Suspiria
Suspiria has supernatural elements but is more a thriller than a horror movie. The story is about the hauntings of one's past and how it is impossible to escape it.
Suspiria is about an ambitious dancer Suzy Bannion (Dakota Johnson), and her life in a renowned dance company. The dance company has darkness in every corner and nightmares waiting for Suzy, either succumbing to the darkness or waking up from the nightmare.
But what she would know later in the story is that real witches run the dance academy.
Tinda Swinton plays two roles superbly, as a male psychotherapist and the dance academy's lead choreographer.
The Report
The Report is loosely based on an article on the CIA's torture methods after the 9/11 terrorist attack and a 6700-page report. It is a political thriller starring Adam Driver in the lead.
The movie somehow develops a sense of anxiety in the viewers' minds with the events happening in two different places. The Report reveals the horrifying side of government work.
Homecoming
Homecoming is a psychological thriller about Heidi Bergman (Julia Roberts), who used to work at a support center called Homecoming. There she used to help soldiers return to a normal civilian life. She starts a new life after four years and takes up a job as a waitress. But she has almost zero memory of her time at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center.
As the story progresses, the dark secrets of the facility begin to surface.
